Are you looking for thyroid information?
The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland located in the neck that makes several thyroid hormones that set the metabolic rate for all the cells of the body.
These hormones are also responsible for the body’s ability to produce energy. The two most essential hormones made by the thyroid are T3 – triiodothyronine (with three iodines) and T4 – thyroxine (with four iodines).
T4 blood levels are higher than that of T3 (approximately 80% should be T4 and 20% should be T3), but T3 is four times more potent. The total thyroid effect is a combination of both T3 and T4 – thyroid information.
The thyroid hormone increases the number and activity of the mitochondria (they exist inside your body cells) that convert the food we eat into energy for the body.
The mitochondria will tend to burn the food we eat to release heat and energy that is stored for later use.
When the thyroid is not functioning properly, we suffer from lower body temperature and lack of energy. Low body temperature and fatigue are the two most common symptoms of low thyroid.
Other symptoms that affect people with thyroid deficiency are difficulty in losing weight, dry skin, dry hair, hair loss, depression, anxiety, digestive problems, mental sluggishness, muscle pains and aches and premenopause or menopause symptoms.
Thyroid deficiency can cause you to have more difficulty dealing with stressful situations, you may sleep poorly, you may have anemia, autoimmune disorders and delayed recoveries if you have injuries or surgery.
