In their early 30’s, women can experience anovulatory menstrual cycles (without ovulation) and yet continue to have “regular periods” until their early fifties.
Menstrual cycles can continue even without the body producing progesterone, and many women are not aware that the lack of progesterone and the resulting hormone imbalance could be causing their symptoms.
Women can experience without being aware, for months or years menstrual periods without ovulation – this is called anovulation.
When this occurs, estrogen production can become unstable – with increased levels and other times with very low levels.
Age and first signs of menopause means you may begin to experience irregular menstrual periods from very heavy, other times very little blood flow or you may not have a menstrual period at all.
You may also experience breast tenderness and swelling, depression, mood swings, water retention, difficult sleeping and perhaps the tendency for weight gain which is usually related to higher levels of estrogen in the body and hormone imbalance.
These symptoms can be estrogen dominance caused by lack of ovulation and very low progesterone production. When progesterone and estrogen don’t balance each other, you will have several hormone imbalance symptoms.
